Lifeboat crews helped pump out the water and seal the leak
A lifeboat has rescued the two-man crew of a sinking boat off the Teesside coast.
The 30-ft coble, Coquet Queen, began taking on a "significant amount" of water two miles out to sea.
Redcar's RNLI boat was launched and the crew helped pump out water and seal the leak before towing the vessel up the River Tees to safety.
Spokesman Dave Cocks said they had gathered for training when the alarm was raised on Sunday morning.
He said: "We were quickly on scene, and it was just as well we were. The coble was taking in a significant amount of water through the stern gland.
"We used our salvage pump to start pumping the water out and one of our crewmembers helped seal the leak as best he could with rags.
'We then took the boat, with its two crew and our crewmember on board, under tow to Paddy's Hole in the River Tees.
"We continued to pump the water out for quite a while after the boat was tied up to a mooring there."
